Do you have any tips on how to create a better, warmer ambient for the couple, especially when shooting indoors or in a studio environment?

Yes! when you have to shoot indoors, why not at the couple’s house? it feels like their ‘zone’ and they are often more comfortable there. it also gives you lots of prop options to play with that likely hold sentimental value for the couple.

If you have to go into a studio, i’d try to use natural light, as most people are a little more uncomfortable with bright lights and flashes. having relaxing, ambient music can add a nice touch as well.

That said, the Moment Design/Beloved effect is, more than anything else, brought on by an internal state, since it is powered by the same piece of us that accesses memory, imagination and feeling.

The location matters, and private / comfortable / warm is preferable, but ultimately how the muses perceive your level of warmth and comfort will often be more important than that of their environment.

I’ve shot in many places that were less than idea with amazing results, including on stages, beneath bright lights in front of a thousand strangers. the muses bring the audience to tears. if it can happen there, it can happen anywhere!
